Wisdom Ajibade didn’t stumble into tech, he walked in with intention. From the very beginning, he knew this was the path for him, and so far, he hasn’t looked back. Whether you’re figuring out your own direction or already deep in your tech journey, Wisdom’s story is a reminder that sometimes, clarity comes early and that’s perfectly okay too.
What were you doing before tech entered the picture?
Hmm🤔 I have always been into computers from a very young age. I picked interest in “Encarta Kids software” and learned a lot from it. In a nutshell, I already knew how to use a computer at a young age. I learnt a lot of things along the way and particularly picked interest in complicated games (I am not talking about candy crush)
Hmm. So you didn’t transition. You were a tech guy from the very beginning?
Yeah
What’s your major milestone?
A major milestone in my tech journey was when I was able to successfully format my play station and install a new OS in it for me to play games from my usb drive without glitch.
After I finished writing my WAEC, I decided to learn game development but my computer couldn’t support that. I was disappointed until I saw a YouTube video that claimed to teach you how to build your own website in 15 minutes (crack right? 😂) and I believed this YouTube lady. Technically, she didn’t lie about creating the website in 15 minutes even though what she did was just to write basic html with 0 styling.
So what did you take home from the video?
One thing I appreciated about that lady’s video was the fact that she made me curious to know more about web development. She mentioned important terms like “CSS”, “JavaScript” etc. That made me do more research and in time I had already finished a CSS and JavaScript course.
I was able to create a snake game with JavaScript. Even though that wasn’t my type of game, the process of building it was fun and I liked my creation. I went further to build websites with html, CSS and JavaScript through the help of our famous “YouTube Indian Developers”😅 and I learnt a lot.
Have you experienced any setbacks?
Yes. As time went on, I was having issues with getting clients who needed my skill so I decided to add graphic design to my perk. And in time, I was able to start getting clients who needed my graphic design skill (thanks to God my ultimate helper, thanks to Jesse who helped me learn graphic design fast and thanks to Miracle who created publicity for me). The fact that I added graphic design didn’t mean I stopped web development. I am a very active web app developer that still does graphic design.
What’s something your past self wouldn’t believe about where you are now?
That I am able to engage in website development, run graphic design simultaneously and get paid for it.
Any regrets so far in your tech journey?
Not really.
What would the title of your tech journey be if it were a Netflix documentary?
Beyond the Glitch: A Developer’s Will. Where others saw failure, I saw a challenge.
Hmm. Interesting. Any word for The Nebula
Yeah. Joining The Nebula is the best thing that has happened to me. I was able to improve my skills and it also marked the beginning of being noticed as a designer and developer.
God has used the Nebula to ensure that all my effort in the tech industry is not in vain.
I want to say a big thank you to The Nebula for how far they’ve helped me grow. God bless The Nebula.
